There’s never a shortage of things to do at Atara. Located within Desert Color, Atara residents have access to all Desert Color Events and Amenities—month after month, all year long. In addition, the charming town of St. George is right next door and serves as a “home away from home” for residents at Atara. Here’s a few things to keep an eye on in March—both at Desert Color and around St. George.
Dive-In Movie: How To Train Your Dragon
March 1, 2024

This will be lots of fun for the whole family, for the young and young at heart. Desert Color provides the perfect viewing venue for their Dive-In Movie Series, which projects family-friendly movies onto a giant movie screen (typically set up on the pool deck). But this is more than just a movie, as each Dive-In Movie Night features themed decorations, delicious food, cold beverages, children’s crafts, and various other activities.
Docutah International Film Festival
March 1-2, 2024 | 8pm – 10pm

The DOCUTAH International Film Festival at Utah Tech University brings together filmmakers and film lovers from all over to celebrate breakout films and documentaries. Enjoy an electric weekend celebrating the art of documentary film, with showings at the Megaplex Theaters Sunsets.
Zion Half Marathon
March 2, 2024 | 7am – 10pm
Run the beautiful road to Zion! This is a paved course (making it friendlier for all runners), with plenty of natural scenery to make this race as enjoyable as it is memorable. This course is somewhat challenging—with a steady climb toward the mouth of main Zion Canyon—but the scenery and beauty is second to none. Runners can chase the sunrise over The Watchman and come run below the vibrant cliffs. Don’t miss this chance to run in the desert all the way to the lovely town of Springdale.
Downtown Farmer’s Market
Saturdays (March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30) | 10am – 2pm

This has become a staple event for Desert Color and Atara Residents. If you miss one week, fret not…the Farmer’s Market is held every Saturday, all year long. Farmers markets are one of the last true community spaces we have. Everyone is welcome, so come one and all. This is a great way to support and immerse yourself in some authentic local culture.
Tuacahn Saturday Market
Saturdays (March 2, 9, 16, 23, 30) | 10am – 2pm

Come enjoy the surroundings of the beautiful red rock canyon at this ongoing Saturday event that features local artwork, crafts, food, and free entertainment. The market is every Saturday, year-round (weather permitting). Admission and live entertainment is free. Guests can stroll along the tree-lined walkway next to a beautiful water feature, while browsing the work of local painters, artists, crafters and more.
The Tuacahn Cafe is open for breakfast and lunch. A pancake breakfast with bacon and juice is served until 12:00 p.m.
St. Patrick’s Day Celebration
March 16

St. Paddy’s…it’s nearly that time. The unofficial first day of spring and the perfect time to mingle and raise a pint or two. This year, Desert Color will be putting on a St. Patrick’s Day Gala that is sure to be fun and entertaining for the whole family. The daytime event will feature live music, a magic show, face painting, kids’ activities, savory cuisine, and a variety of ales, lagers, stouts, and pilsners. Throw on something green and come join the celebration.
Destination Spin Class
March 23

This is a first-time Desert Color event and we could not be more excited. This traveling spin class will become a regular activity at Desert Color, held along the inviting beach of the Shores Resort lagoon. The 2.5-acre lagoon (the largest private body of water in St. George) provides a scenic and inspiring workout setting—as well as the perfect place to take a cool-down dip after class.
St. George Art Festival
March 29-30

This is a don’t-miss event taking place right downtown in St. George. There’s a little something for everyone at this two-day festival, regardless of age. Suffice it to say, there will be live entertainment (on two stages), delicious food, children’s games and activities, as well as an Art Attack Race (1 mile and 5k). Started in 1980, the St. George Art Festival has grown to include over 110 artists from hundreds of entries throughout the United States.
Kayenta Color Run 5K

Take “Colors of the Desert” to the next level with the inaugural Kayenta Color Run 5K! Participants of all ages and abilities can run-walk-stroll through 3.1 miles of beautiful Kayenta landscape. Each color stop during the race will feature powdered paint stations to allow each participant to end the race as a colorful masterpiece!
