Two decades ago, James Flick and Matt Mars began a partnership that would earn them worldwide esteem—designing living spaces and interiors for premier resorts, hotels, restaurants, and spas in a number of coveted, highly distinctive locales. They have earned a reputation for being leaders in the industry, delivering boutique service, unparalleled expertise, and award winning designs. Past and present clients include: Disney, Hyatt International, Starwood, Intercontinental, Hilton, and Four Seasons.
Their creative philosophy is simple: to create unique guest experiences by designing to each location’s indigenous surroundings. Flick•Mars does not subscribe to any particular look or style, rather, they let each project’s inherent personality and environment inform their creative designs. At Atara, they are working with the rich palette of Southern Utah’s desert to instill a heightened sense of place that is rooted in the natural wonders of the landscape. We are very lucky on Atara that St. George, Utah is such a unique place. It’s a four season location. It offers a lot of opportunities for people to interact with nature, but they do want to come back to some place that’s comfortable, as well. So, we started coming up with this modern feel in rugged surroundings and it’s inspired by nature.
